She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, is the author of six #1 New York Times bestsellers, and is the host of the weekly Spotify Original podcasts Unlocking Us and Dare to Lead.
Brené’s books have been translated into more than 30 languages and titles include: Atlas of the Heart, Dare to Lead, Braving the Wilderness, Rising Strong, Daring Greatly, and The Gifts of Imperfection. Her TED talk – The Power of Vulnerability – is one of the top five most viewed TED talks in the world with over 50 million views. She is also the first researcher to have a filmed lecture on Netflix. The Call to Courage special debuted on the streaming service in April 2019. Brené lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband, Steve. They have two children, Ellen and Charlie.
The most significant learning within the Dare to Lead™ program is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings, and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organisations move from armoured leadership to daring leadership.
“You will be challenged to become a more vulnerable leader, to lead with values, build trust and rise above setbacks.”
Who is a leader?
Brené Brown defines a leader as “anyone who takes responsibility for
finding the potential in people and processes and has the courage to
develop that potential.”
This course is recommended for:
- Senior leaders
- People managers
- Business Owners
If you want to move from armored leadership to daring leadership, and encourage others in your team to be courageous, this leadership and development program will inspire you to dare greatly, rise strong and brave the wilderness.
This program is delivered in virtual programs and public face to face
workshops. It can also be delivered as part of other leadership development programs, in-house, on-site and customised to meet the specific needs of your organisation
“This leadership and development program will inspire you to dare greatly, rise strong and brave the wilderness.”
Rumbling with Vulnerability
Explore what it means to “rumble” and that the process of rumbling is more than just a weird West Side Story way to say, “Let’s have a real conversation, even if it’s tough.”
- Risk, uncertainty and emotional exposure
- The six myths of vulnerability
- A call to courage
- Shame, empathy and emotional literacy
- Armoured leadership versus daring leadership
- Grounded confidence and rumbling skills
In this section of the Dare to Lead™ program, you will make rumbling become a serious intention and a behavioural cue or reminder that guides you when things get tough.
Living into our Values
Take time to reconnect with your values and beliefs that are most important to you and that help you find your way in the dark and that fills you with a feeling of purpose.
- Naming values
- Taking values from BS to behaviour
- Giving engaged feedback
- Recognising defensiveness in feedback conversations
In this section of the Dare to Lead™ program, you will answer important questions such as:
- Does this define me?
- Is this who I am at my best?
- Is this a filter that I use to make hard decisions?
Consider two important elements of trust. Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind. The acronym BRAVING stands for Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Vault, Integrity, Non judgement, and Generosity.
- Building Psychological Safety
- BRAVING – Learn the 7 Elements of Trust
- Trust with Others and Self
In this section of the Dare to Lead™ program, you will learn that BRAVING trust is all about being able to have a conversation from a place of curiosity, learning and ultimately trust-building.
Learning to Rise
Recognise that learning to rise is about knowing when we are hooked by emotion. How do you know when your emotion grabs you?
- Emotional hooks
- Learn to manage yours and identify other’s offloading strategies
- The reckoning: the importance of curiosity as a rumble tool
- The rumble: the stories we tell ourselves and how they hold us back
- The revolution: circle back, rewrite your story’s ending
In this section of the Dare to Lead™ program you will become better connected with the emotions that grab you, the way you respond and strategies for reckoning with emotion.
We offer different scholarship options for Dare to Lead™ to help individuals and organisations enable brave leaders and create courageous cultures.
“The program provides such in-depth consideration of Brene Brown’s work. It gave perspective to the content but also drives you to continue to consider other ways and concepts that you may not have considered before. The group size means that you have opportunity to share and learn from others whilst also being able to work independently on the areas you want to. Highly recommend it!”
“I found the Dare to Lead training incredibly valuable. The program is thought provoking and challenging at times in ways that encourages awareness and growth on different levels, and from this explores how we as individuals can build courage and then lead from it. The facilitators guided us through the material with compassion, understanding and insight and confirmed that we can never stop learning about ourselves and how we interact with the world. The group created a safe environment to explore issues of trust and courage and to unpack the stories we tell ourselves which keep us stuck or small. It was a wonderful and valuable experience that I highly recommend.”
“Phillip Ralph and the team at The Leadership Sphere run some of the best leadership development programs here in Australia and the recent Dare to Lead program was one of the best programs I have been a part of. Well structured, excellent content, and an amazing group of people on the program. Over the eight weeks of this virtual program I have transformed some key areas of my life and integrated new approaches to leadership at work and at home. A huge shout out to Phil and the team for running such high quality leadership programs and for having such a profound impact on those who were involved. I highly recommend the Dare to Lead program to individuals and groups who want to transform the workplace culture and have a passion for building high trust organisations!”
The Dare to Lead™ face to face program is a blended leadership development program that includes three-days of face-to-face workshops all supported by an organised structure of self-assessment, self-learning, habit-building, and online leadership tools, to maximise participant leadership development.
